on sticky hands
One of my partners ([CK]h?r[iy]s+, newbie black belt) gave me some background on what you're doing in sticky hands. (Everyone reading this to whom it is personally relevant probably knows it already, but feel free to chime in with further useful information.) What she suggested is to create a bubble of space around yourself. You are trying to feel your partner's incursions towards this bubble, and redirect them, in this exercise keeping your feet planted.
Today was a good level of pushy in terms of new material: the sticky hands; promenade (you know, advance and retreat in various stances with various techniques; I can't think of a better name) with anything you want, in multiple directions simultaneously; playing taken-down subject of Punch Attack 4 while people consult on how to break your arm without losing their balance; Monkey mirror-reversed (is hard) and displayed in front of audience(! but they're a supportive audience).
My leg twinged at points during the night, but it's in "just fine" mode now. I don't know what it's thinking, whether it has a list of demands or what. It can't talk, I recognize that, but I wish it knew ASL.
