shoe repair
Nov. 26th, 2001 08:42 pmOh, and another thing I did during the Weekend of Stuff was I patched up one of my sneakers. I'm not certain which decade these sneakers are from -- they're extremely old, and the right-foot one was coming apart into many independent pieces, so when I turned a corner my foot would slip off the sole and kiss the pavement. Now, my dad has a long history of hackish shoe repair. The asymptotic state of his shoes is cocooned in duct tape wrapped around and around.
I like to think my use of duct tape was a little more classy. It's on the inside, holding the superstructure of the shoe to the sole. Silicone caulk around the edge gives the job that finished touch.
Survived a day's walking. Martha Stewart would be proud, or is it Norm Abrams. But I think it's time for new shoes.
