While telial galls produced on cedar are unsightly and cause die-back of small branches, there usually is little concern about the presence of the rust [Gymnosporangium juniperi-virginianae] on this host. Infections of junipers can, however, be spectacular on rainy spring days because of all the bright orange hydrated telial horns. In some cases the heavy weight of these water-saturated structures may break branches of the host tree.

How long have you been so interested in mycology?

I don't really know a thing about mycology, but I've always been a bit of a fungus groupie, and I picked up this book...

Y'know, most of the possible interpretations of the phrase "fungus groupie" are interpretations I would not wish to associate with you.

I assume that you've seen "Ghostbusters". There's a character in the movie who collects molds, spores, and fungi.

After reading this post, I started doing fungus-related searches on Google and discovered that there's a lively Ghostbusters fan fiction community.
