eub1.) Total amount of music files on your computer?
48 gigs. I ripped most of my CDs, but I don't listen to them on the computer for some reason. Part of it is that mp3 players interact crashily with some of my other software, and it's a pain having to remember to turn off the music and mode-switch.
2.) The last cd you bought was...
It was an order of ten or so. Say, to pick one, Peter Whitehead, Three Bags Full.
3.) What was the last song you listened to before reading this message?
Um. You had to ask me that at this unusually embarrassing time, didn't you. It was a track off of Deep Forest's first disk. But BEFORE THAT it was Toby Twining's Chrysalid Requiem.
4.) Write down five songs you often listen to or mean a lot to you.
I'll do "mean a lot", which I'd say is about 135 degrees off from "often listen to". In rough order of my finding them:
Jane Siberry, "The Walking".
The Orb, "Blue Room".
Djam Karet, "Reflections from the Firepool".
Steve Tibbetts, "Name Everything".
Susan McKeown & The Chanting House, "Albatross".
The Mountain Goats, "No Children".
(Yes, that's six. Bite me. It's an impossible thing to ask.)
5.) What new music are you really excited for in the coming year so far?
There's so much old music I haven't found yet, I'm more excited about that. But, you know, I haven't been hitting much a) totally new to me and b) really really good recently. What should I try, folks?
Like, musicians where I've got all of their old stuff that I want, and am waiting for new? I don't know, I'll buy whatever Peter Gabriel does next, and Autechre, and Veda Hille, and oh, lots of people, but I'm not on tiptoes holding my music-buying water, I'll get to it all eventually, and for all I know maybe they already have things out. But I don't think so, they tend to be slow.
