Especially when you write for-loops in it instead of doing pure vector programming. Though I'd figure interp1() would be the hotspot here. Anyway for eight seconds of audio I'm waiting fifteen minutes, I expect. (I'm generating a sound example to proselytize for a synthesis technique I suggested, bandlimited hard sync.)

I was thinking of buying a computer tonight, but I guess I'll do laundry instead.
Two days ago all the figures in my thesis draft disappeared. Hell, the figures in my proposal document disappeared when I reLatexed it, and I haven't touched that for two years (and the filesystem agrees with me).

I regenerated the .eps figures with ps2epsi. I reprinted the Postscript for them from Powerpoint. They stayed blank white.

On my laptop I found an .eps file for one of the diagrams from the proposal talk. This .eps file printed non-blank. I don't know how I generated it, but it is precious.

I copied that file, chopped its guts out, transplanted in the guts from another diagram's .ps file, and generated a dummy .eps from the .ps just to spak its %%BoundingBox into my file. Then I fine-tuned the bounding boxes by hand.

Doing this to Postscript files ain't right.
I'm doing laundry, so I went to the pants drawer for laundry-doing pants. Right on top are these pants. They are fine pants, but they're not mine. I don't own any khaki twill (I think that's the name of this fabric) pants. But they fit. They aren't Dee's pants. Whose pants are they?
The money card that drives the laundry machines is not in the cup where I feel it should live. It's not anywhere else I can think to look for it. Dee and I don't have much trouble living harmoniously with our slightly different preferred levels of messiness, but the wandering laundry card gets me every time. Maybe I'll just go make a long-term investment in another laundry card and stash it in my nightstand. His and hers laundry cards, plplplpl.

Or cellphones might help. Nasty little beasts.
