Kevin and Benoit and I had lunch at Enrico's and then went to see Time and Tide, a film fest movie, at the Harris. At lunch I grievously mangled the name of my pizza and lost too much face to ask about the five-gallon carboy of what could have been cider fermenting on the counter. Whatever it is, I wonder if when it's done they can legally dispense it without some highly involved license. I picked up a bunch of biscotti, too; I hope Deanna likes biscotti.

I told Dee it was going to be a movie where things get blowed up, but turned out to be more where things get pumped full of lead. And I was thinking it would be ornately choreographed violence, you know, Pilobolus with big fucking guns, but it was mostly desperate shoving and scrabbling. So it didn't play to my prettiness expectations. And although K and B said the plot hung together, I had give up on the backstory and just take as an axiom that everybody was looking to kill everybody else, subject to a list of provisional exceptions. So it was diverting, but not quite my thing.

In Moorer's "About this reverberation business" there's a filter structure called an oscillatory comb filter; I'm feeling non-dumbass because after staring at it I saw it was a special case of a direct-II filter layout, so you can do it directly in Matlab. Which I will now go play with. Whee.
