darkroom

For Christmas I gave Josh and Brooke a photo frame with a doodle in it that represented a picture I took of them dancing at their wedding, so last night I printed a 5x7 to go in it, and cranked out a bunch of 4x6s for everybody. In this particular photo neither one of them is making a goony face, so they both like it. And they are almost touching noses, so they are being cute. This print is much better than the straight machine print of the neg, mostly because it's got clutter cropped out, and it's rotated a bit to align the background. (Also it's better focused. I don't understand why machines can't get the focus dead on every time, looking at the film grain the way a human does.) I should get a scan up sometime.

Tonight I was going to do prints of more wedding photos, and maybe some from other b/w rolls. Got the chemicals all laid out, neg dusted, in the enlarger -- and the bulb blows. Sure hope we can get this model bulb at the photo store tomorrow, or my printing's over for the year. I really ought to get set up to use the CMU club's darkroom, or the Filmmakers' one. I really ought to graduate. Decisions, decisions.

I would like to record, in case Dee was too modest to, that in a game of Boggle tonight she got "tortoises".
