We made sushi! Maki aren't hard at all, if you're happy to just scoop them up and eat them when they explode.
We got salmon, unagi, and avocado, and made various permutations: salmon rolls, salmon and avocado rolls, eel rolls, eel and avocado rolls, inside-out salmon rolls, inside-out eel rolls with avocado on top,.... It was tasty, and we only had a teeny bit too much fish. We need a bigger crowd so we can get more variety without having to eat twelve pounds. This salmon was a little fishier than I'd really like in nigiri, but it was fine in maki. I should call Benkovitz or somebody and ask them about getting very fresh fish.
Anyway we definitely have to throw a roll-your-own-sushi party sometime.
Afterwards I popped over to Frick and watched the tail end of the sunset and took those bullheaded kind of pictures where you know as you're taking them they're going to be "eh", but you do it anyway.
