Beatmania badasses
Nov. 9th, 2002 11:53 pmBeatmania is a video game where you have a small keyboard which you play to a scrolling piano-roll score (you also have a pseudo-turntable to scratch).
dr4b is throwing a Beatmania party. Playing the high-difficulty songs out there, they sounded like a million monkeys with manual typewriters. Highly impressive. They are presently watching videos of people who are even more impressive, playing songs whose notes come so fast you can't really make them out at NTSC frame rate. One-handed.
If the classical-music education establishment could harness these video-game instincts, we'd have a generation of virtuosos. Violinmania! Bassoonmania! Piccolomania no get it AWAY from me. And I want Euphoniumania just because the name is, you know, euphonious.
