Digging out old cilantro, I couldn't stop pausing to breathe in. The odor of warm earth and the sharper green cilantro smell from torn rootlets blend so naturally that cilantro alone will be a letdown. The two want to be combined.

The old cilantro pot was sitting on concrete. Under it was a bare two millimeters of dirt that had sifted down, and in the dirt two earthworms of stunted Weltanschauung.
