I ran across historylink.org, The Online Encyclopedia of Washington State History. (It's the old-style encyclopedia that you can't edit yourself.) Fun to browse. You try a search for "Spokane" and you find Dance Marathons of the 1920s and 1930s -- A Snapshot History.
