dinner at Dish
Mar. 6th, 2002 09:10 pmA group of eight of us went to Dish, an Italian place on the South Side. They're small; it sounded like they'd had to engage in some heavy table migration for this. My filet was very tasty, with great roasted asparagus and mushroom risotto kinda light on the mushroom action -- the idea of the pairing of steak and mushroom risotto compelled me, but the risotto didn't really pull its weight.
The house appetizer platter and air-dried beef thing were tasty, but pretty pricy per ounce. (The place isn't cheap; I got out for about $35.) The cheesecake was unexpected: the bottom third was cheesecake, with un-cheesecake cake on top. This wasn't quite what I was looking for. Dee's nicely-rare tuna steak had a sauce from reduced balsamic vinegar that I really liked and might make for something sometime (yikes, how much vinegar do you have to start with to get that?). Good stuff.
