I have bamboo growing in a big pot, the rim of which sticks up. The bamboo sent out a new shoot, slanting low over the ground. It ran smack into the wall of the pot. I tried to pry it gently upwards, but it wasn't having any. Would I need to punch a notch in the pot?

The bamboo has backed off, and now curves upwards until it clears the rim, standing off a good inch from the wall.

Two other shoots are going to do the same trick. I can't wait. And I wish I had a time-lapse photo rig. Why don't digicams have that mode? It would be trivial. Well, except for the trouble of inventing a cryptic pictogram for "time-lapse".

Aw, it can't be that hard... my digital camera has an eyeball shooting lightning to depict turning off the flash. Maybe an hourglass with a strikethrough? Or a piece of bread with mold on it?
