Perseids

Anyone going to look at meteors? Where's your favorite dark spot around here?

I wouldn't mind going someplace tomorrow if anyone is? walking from my car to my work building last night I happened to see a nice one, it was neat (also many constellations, I almost never see anything by my house which is too close to downtown to get dark enough).

I might check the meteor-frequency graphs and see if it's still worthgoing out on the weekend, when I don't have to get up the next morning...

tonight and tomorrow are my weekend and I have some kind of plans tomorrow. how late do they go, til 2am? ( note my cavalier attitude toward the circadian normal's idea of 'enough sleep' ;) )

Probably too late but ...

Some folks like to go to the winery out by North Bend. I'll let coyotegirl post directions.

However, just now, while watering my tomatoes, I saw two in the light polluted sky. One kind of faint but one really bright with a long trail. The stars have blessed me since I am way too tired to trek out tonight.

way too late. i didn't see this until just now.

I went out to the winery, just off 90. take the snoqualmie falls exit (i don't know if it's the first or the second exit) , but turn right instead of left and go up the hill about half a mile until you get to the parking lot.

you can watch from the parking lot or you can walk down the dirt road past the gate and lie down in the fields where there's less people and fewer problems with car headlights abruptly arriving and fucking up your night vision.

Next year I will try to remember to get a perseids posse together...

Or Leonids, for that matter? :)

I've tried to go out there for the leonids several times, but there's always been way too much cloud cover.

(way too much cloud cover EVERYWHERE, not just over in snoqualmie)

stupid november weather.

I did see Kyahoutek or however that's spelled from there, though, several years ago. that was way cool.

Yeah, I ended up just going up on the roof. Saw some pretty nice ones, even so.
