the birds in the trees by the canal

suggested cormorants. That seems to be them, from pictures. The one that looks like the best match is
Brandt's cormorant
.

Phalacrocorax corax corax!
Bald, eh. Maybe some white-headed European kind.
I wonder if the
penicillatus
is for these white fronds (can non-mammals have vibrissae?) it has.
(The Master of the Cormorants bit on that page is also great.)

I wonder if the penicillatus is for these white fronds (can non-mammals have vibrissae?) it has.
