In other news, is Wikipedia pulling my leg?
During the late 17th century, Catholic scholar and theologian Leo Allatius in De Praeputio Domini Nostri Jesu Christi Diatriba ("Discussion concerning the Prepuce of our Lord Jesus Christ") speculated that the Holy Foreskin may have ascended into Heaven at the same time as Jesus himself and might have become the rings of Saturn, then only recently observed by telescope.

as to the allatius specifics, all i can find are rip-offs of the wikipedia article, which is disconcerting. the catholic encyclopedia says nothing about it, but they don't mention the holy prepuce either -- might not cherish that history. allatius's manuscripts are supposedly collected by the oratorians in rome, which would be the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri. good ghod, they have a website: http://www.oratoriosanfilippo.org/ -- so, you know, one could ask them via email whether that alleged latin essay De Praeputio Domini Nostri Jesu Christi Diatriba exists.
