Octavia Butler Memorial Gathering Thursday at the SF Museum (fwd from [livejournal.com profile] katybeth).

Last weekend I saw these worms crawling over the wall of a snow cave. I thought they were the "ice worms" I had just heard about last Tuesday, but they're not this glacier ice worm, Mesenchytraeus solifugus -- those are obligately glaciericolous, and too small.

Also a spider, from (and returned to) a hemlock buried under eight feet of snow. And a mouse was sighted in a snow cave.

I misread "saw these worms", as "saw these women", for some stupid reason. And so I read the next sentence and thought "ice worms" was so new performance group or something.

Then I realized my mistake. But I still really like the idea of a group of women who crawl all over snow caves as performance art. I'm not sure they'd want to be called "Ice Worms", but who knows?

Sometimes I read my comments over and am not so sure I should post them.
