plants

Yesterday at lunch, two of the staff were maneuvering a cart through the cafeteria, loaded with little tomato starts. They saw me eyeing the labels, and said here, here, have some, we can't fit all these in the garden. So I ate lunch with two tomato plants sitting by me on a paper plate, and continued puzzling out their labels. Brandywine and J*e Fl*e (I had to Google for this one) -> Jeune Flamme.

Today at Tilth sale: Eryngium bourgatii, cilantro, tomatillos (triumph of hope over weather forecasts).

Even a little E. bourgatii is a bit of a pain to repot. I hope to get it in the ground before it gets too large.

Speaking loosely of E. bourgatii, there's a big ol' Crabe maritima in front of mine. Do you know if you're supposed to cut sea kales back after they flower?

I haven't bothered to go to Tilth because I thought it was just veggies and such. They sell FUN plants too?

It's mostly veggies. (It's mostly tomatoes.) But there are other bits. Hops.

No idea about the sea kale.
