aerial root

The downstairs philodendron sent out a long downward-probing arc of aerial root, which we stuck into a little secondary pot. Now a new root has come straight up out of the soil, and is feeling about.

Is there a U-turn in there?

What would it like to find in its tertiary pot if it is to settle down?

My ficus, Mortimer, has more than once grown roots into the back of a computer. I have wondered if if liked the warmth, or something, but maybe it just hates computers.

If it can get two roots in, it can tap +5V off the power supply and take over the world.

boing!

Great. After reading this post, every time I see the philodendron picture on my Friends page, I imagine a cartoonish boing! sound.

Er, more water? My philodendron mostly sent out aerial roots when I wasn't watering quite enough (which was most of the time).

Really! Hm, maybe we'll try watering some more.
