hollow beans

The green beans, especially the Cascade Giants, have been unhealthy, with spider mites and who knows what else. Sometimes when you go to pick a bean off them, the pod gives in your fingers, hollow and a little leathery. Hollow beans. They creep me out somehow, the feel of them between the fingers.

Ew. That is disturbing. I don't like the little 'worm' holes that I find in my beans. But I'm usually too cheap to throw the bean out. I just break off the yucky part.

I have not gotten those yet. Maybe the worms don't like spider mites.
