Columnar apple trees remain creepy and wrong.

By some crossing of the wires I have been identified as a likely buyer of bulbs in wholesale quantities. I am, I admit, intrigued by the idea of buying 1000 camas bulbs, $155.75 (plus shipping). In the same way as buying 50 pounds of Dow Corning 3179 Dilatant Compound, you know.

Maybe I'll try planting chard for overwintering.

Columnar apple trees are as wrong as zone-5-hardy fig and kiwi trees, but they keep trying to sell those, too. I'm with you, though. Good luck with the chard; I prefer kale and collards, but chard can have such pretty stems. :)

We had good chard last year, but none of the leftover seeds would sprout this year, none at all.

Kiwifruit are alien to me as plants, so I just tell myself, oh, it's a different species really, whatever. But frost-hardy figs, yeah, and you know what else is wrong? Palm trees in Seattle. They may survive but they ain't right.
