Lonely loop hike up the Domerie Divide trail (which is the steepest thing I've ever seen as a maintained trail, except it's not often maintained), across Silver Creek tie trail, and back. A stand of silver snags and fireweed. I camped in a meadow of windblown grass that was clearly thick with elk, but they stayed almost out of sight. The grouse stayed out of sight until they blasted out of the grass under the misimpression I could see them if they stayed put.

Beautiful Acidanthera pic. I'm going to replant mine.

Did my umber pussytoes comment go through? I don't see it there. Look into Eriogonum douglasii var. douglasii or other cushion eriogonums. Antennaria have cauline leaves on the stem (as do some eriogonums, but).

It did go through, but I do an annoying thing where I post photo sets in two versions and make the smaller set browseable but LJ-blog the larger set, this to try to get at "show people the photos I like most first but also offer some more" but it's a lousy way to get at it and I should do something different. Thanks for comment; commented there.
