I just got some CDs. Okay, that's old, but that's not what I'm here to talk about. I got them from cdconnection.com, and I realized I've been buying from them for something over 15 years. Since before the web; you used to telnet in to their site. (Wired article, speaking of oldness.)

I am sad to report that
$ telnet cdconnection.com
Trying 208.218.142.11...
telnet: connect to address 208.218.142.11: Connection refused

(If you still buy CDs, by the way, I recommend cdconnection. Never had any problem with them, and I don't see how other retailers get away with $14-$16 prices. They have eight-track tapes too.)

I still remember talking to someone in college who had never seen a CD before. I barely remember 8 tracks; someone I knew had a player in like her mom's car or something, like how I probably know one or two people now with a tape player in their car. My dad however used to listen to opera on reel-to-reel in the basement on weekends :)

Recently I had a whole conversation with someone about how the internet made zines and especially APAs obsolete. I hadn't thought about how the Web killed ASCII art :)

A guy five years older than me was shocked that I couldn't remember handling a record. (I've seen them, but my parents wouldn't let me handle them early on and then our record player broke.)
