Ralph organized a session of Rune, which is a horned-helmet-Viking-themed axe-and-loot game with an interesting rotating-GM mechanism and a strong tilt towards fun over realism. It was, indeed, fun. A little practice should make the combat system run quickly. You add or subtract additional dice on max or min rolls, so you can succeed and fail spectacularly; I had a satisfying run of successes and an entertaining string of failures.

Later, I saw Delicatessen at the Melwood. I was surprised at how upbeat it was; I was expecting grimness and doom. Gruesome and entertaining and weird, but it didn't have the power that City of Lost Children had to stun me into taking the weird for natural. The mist and smoke was beautiful.

Hmm...we should really talk more about seeing movies. I would've liked to see City of Lost Children. I admit, I did not like Delicatessen when I saw it, but it could've been partially due to the company (this was several years ago).

If you get a chance, I think you might like The Bread, My Sweet. But I'm pretty biased toward that film :-)

I was going to see if I could collect a posse Saturday afternoon, but yinz were booked (only heard just then that these were playing). Actually I haven't seen City for a few years -- wasn't sure I was still up for it right after Deli.
