Generation gap?

I have not put one in myself, but I have watched both my parents perform such an action.

I have never seen a glove compartment used as anything but storage of maps, registration and insurance cards.

Though, given how easily I get cold, it could make sense to stash a pair of gloves in there too...

Amidst all the maps, service receipts, insurance cards, tire gauge, flashlight (probably with dead batteries), etc is, indeed, one pair of thin gloves. They were billed as "driving gloves", but mostly I don't use them. If I had to change a tire in the snow, though, they're insulated enough to provide *some* protection while being thin enough to let me manipulate nuts. (In theory, anyway; it hasn't come up thus far.)

I used to keep a pair of rubberized work gloves in the glove box for scraping the window on those "not cold enough to wear gloves -unless- you have to scrape the window" days. They also came in handy for mildly dirty tasks like topping off oil or washer fluid, though I tried not to get them -too- dirty because then they would have messed up the maps, registrations, etc. that occupied the other 90% of the glove box.
