back online
Sep. 6th, 2002 05:10 pmOur DSL modem finally arrived, so we're online. (Well, I'm online... now to figure out how to get Dee hooked up without too much punching holes in the ceiling, running 10BT out the windows, or buying extra hardware.) So I'll probably be on LJ more now.
Speakeasy support seems pretty good. The modem wouldn't talk to the computer, so I called them up. The guy let me explain the tests I'd done with the computer and the firewall/hub and the modem, rather than sticking to a script, and he nailed the problem: this Zyxel modem comes with a crossover cable, which I wasn't using. So I wrote "XOVR" all over it in cramped little letters and plugged it in and here I am.
I'm going to go have another try at finding the box of important papers. Otherwise it's time to talk to the Mass DMV about a replacement title...
