books report

(reposted since I must have deleted it trying to clean up after LJ's multi-posting)
(in imitation of joelle_van_dyne)

I aim for 100 each year (it's like bowling), but only hit 91 in 2002. I blame my thesis and moving; July and August were weak months.

A baker's dozen of favorites:
Jo Walton, The King's Foo
Kelly Link, Stranger Things Happen
Pat Califia, Public Sex
Anne Fadiman, Ex Libris
Charles Lamb, Selected Letters
Elizabeth Enright, Gone-Away Lake
Boswell, Life of Johnson
Martha Wells, The Element of Fire
Ted Chiang, Stories of Your Life
Jeff VanderMeer, City of Saints and Madmen
Milorad Pavic, Dictionary of the Khazars
Paul West, The Secret Lives of Words
Pamela Dean, The Secret Country and siblings

I keep meaning to tell you, but I don't know if I have yet -- Jo Walton's [livejournal.com profile] papersky. And I have her next, The Prize in the Game; have you seen it?

Don't know yet how many books I read this year. Lots, but not as many as usual. I stopped logging sometime in early fall, I think, and there has been a lot of comfort reading this winter. I'll post an estimate at some point.

Wow, <Negroponte>Everyone on the planet uses Livejournal.</Negroponte> (mm, Ted Chiang?) I don't yet have a copy of Prize, but I plan to.

You still have some work to do on the multi-posting front.

Yeah; now that things seem to be working better (knock plastic) I'll dare to clean up.
