non-negative integers

I mentioned how a discussion on the Jane Siberry list ended up with me noodling towards a tarot deck of non-negative integers. Which I dug up. But really it's more straight numerology, since it's not apparent what would work for suits, and the major arcana have too many candidates. (I lean towards mathematical constants, but they get pretty heavy-handed; I mean, what are you going to do with Feigenbaum's number?)

0: creation. void; thanatos. the null set is the ground of number.

1: unity. gnosis; agape; the circle.
2: balance. analysis; eros; tension.
3: stability. synthesis; resolution.

4: iteration. a composite number, a perfect square.
5: asymmetry. phi, r pentomino, 5/4 rhythm.
6: complexity. analysis/synthesis; a non-square composite.
7: order in chaos.
8: symmetry, the crystal. a cube. J.S. Bach; total internal reflection.
9: ?
10: the hands. and the work of the hands. chance; historical contingency; the fall from Platonic heaven.

Viewed the lunar eclipse from a fifth-floor balcony, with jinian and hattifattener and snout.

what else I did today: cookery

Made chicken stock again, this time without the hacking up chicken backs. Prep still took a while, to saute first the onions and then four pounds of chicken backs in two batches. (That I had them frozen didn't help.)

Also apple cobbler from the Cook's Ill book. Much like Dee's recipe, except with some cornstarch and sugar in with the fruit, also a spoonful of bourbon (substituting for brandy). The bourbon turned out to be a nice touch.

The only hit for "Hello Kitty casket" is not work-safe.
