Look at what's in today's Botany Photo of the Day: the houseplant "string of beads". First, it's a groundsel! Second, it has windows in its leaf-beads, to light their skin from inside too.

(Who else uses this architecture? Complex-thallused liverworts. Some cacti IIRC? It sure seems a succulent-type strategy.)

The "string of beads" doesn't taste good. Just so you know. I nibbled on the one at Omni.

Don't nibble on mine! It appears to be healthy now, but whitefly mostly killed it off a while back and it's still very small.

Good to know. When I come visit you I'll nibble on your other plants. :)
