Yesterday I took down the birdfeeder to add a squirrel cage so we could start using it again. It had turned into a terrarium (picture), with leftover sunflower seeds sprouting in the bottom. And wasps had built a small nest inside, excellently sheltered and protected -- empty now, but when I cleaned it all out I found white grubs creeping in the seed-gunk, so the animal kingdom was still represented. And for a third kingdom, the growth of wiry blackish threads I think was Nostoc (flagelliforme-looking), cyanobacteria.

I built a chicken-wire cage around the birdfeeder, filled it, and hung it back up. Early results are that none of our birds are filtrable through chicken wire.

it does it as texture and colour for me. form not so much, but even that is there. it's balanced in an interesting way. i like it a lot.

369 is awesome, my favourite of the lot. anon gave a perfect (for me) description of it; yes, that's what it feels like.

i also like the one with the car for the fun value.
