please tell me Peeps has a biologically unreliable narrator

because in the first twenty pages we have

  • instant-acting pills. Vampires have fast metabolisms, okay stipulated, but do they have pill-triturating gizzards?
  • bats eating carrion. BATS AREN'T BUGS.
  • trematodes identified as fish. wtf.

And I'd let this all go, but the narrator says he's a bio major. Please tell me there's some plot reason, that the parasite has eaten the bio lobes of his brain for its own purposes.

Maybe you should just stop reading the books, b/c I'm not sure it'll get much better for you. I don't even remember being bothered by that stuff.

Then again I practically melted down during _Until_The_End_Of_The_World_ b/c the visual psychophysics was so horrifically inaccurate and inconsistent in it.

To be honest it doesn't exactly bother me so much as that I enjoy to rant about it.

Hah! The ending of one of his other books (she says vaguely so as not to be spoilerific) sat poorly with me in similar 'liking to rant' ways. It just wasn't satisfying in terms of the characters' motivations or interactions. There was a followup in a future book that helped some, but, still. It was as if he was suddenly pandering to his expectations of a teen-girl audience when a) other people read his books and b) even teen girls seem more emotionally sophisticated than that to me.

Were the pills swallowed, or might they have been chewed?

"I cupped my hand over her mouth in a flash and heard the pills snick into her dehydrated throat." :(
